Regarding results as of June 30, 2021, our CEO, Maurizio Bezzeccheri, stated, "During the first half, EBITDA recorded an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to better business results and the consolidation of Enel Green Power Americas as of April 1 this year. Net income increased by around 21% compared to the first half of 2020.
This quarter, Lagoa dos Ventos (716 MW), the largest wind power plant in South America, located in the Brazilian state of Piauí, began operations. We continue with a pipeline of 44 GW in renewable energy, above our initial forecasts, supporting our medium- and long-term growth strategy in the region.
In Colombia, we praise the agreement with our partner, Grupo de Energía Bogotá, which moves forward to create a single, simplified, and more robust corporate vehicle. The latter will allow us to continue closing new deals to grow and expand into new markets within the energy transition framework, green growth, and technological innovation.
We have seen a recovery in demand in all countries in recent months. Also, positive tariff adjustments in Brazil give us an optimistic outlook for the future."
