Enel Américas approves US$3 billion capital increase

The Enel Américas’ Extraordinary Shareholders Meeting approved a capital increase of US$3 billion, which objective will be to strengthen the flexibility of the company's balance sheet to prepare it for a new stage of growth and to take advantage of potential strategic investment opportunities.

The operation will earmark US$ 2,650 million to provide funds to the subsidiary, Enel Brasil S.A., to pay its debt with Enel Finance International, which replaced the original debt of Enel Brasil S.A. with banking entities for the acquisition of Enel Distribuição São Paulo. Another US$350 million will be used to start the restructuring of pension funds in Brazil that were consolidated as a result of the acquisition of Enel Distribuição São Paulo.
