Enel Green Power Panamá inaugurates two solar plants: Jagüito (Coclé) y Esperanza (Chiriquí)

  • The new Jagüito plant has a capacity of 13.12 MW and will produce 20,19 GWh GWh per year.
  • The new Esperanza plant has a capacity of 26.24 MW and will produce 39,46 GWh per year.
  • Both projects are part of Enel Green Power Panama's photovoltaic generation and expansion plan and involve an investment of 30 million dollars.

 

Panamá, December 3rd, 2021– Enel Green Power (“EGPP”), fulfilling its commitment to develop renewable energy sources throughout Central America through investment in photovoltaic generation, inaugurates two solar plants in the communities of Jagüito (El Roble district, Coclé province) and Esperanza (Progreso, Barú district, Chiriquí province).

Together, both projects represent a capacity of 39.36 MW and will generate 59,65 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 35,400 tons of CO2 per year. The construction of these two solar plants contributes to the economic reactivation of Panama and will feed the local operation of important clients in the commercial and industrial sector of the country.

The Jagüito photovoltaic solar plant, a 13.12 MW capacity project, will generate 20,19 GWh per year of clean energy, avoiding the emission of more than 11,800 tons of CO2 per year. It covers an area of ​​13.17 hectares, with the use of 32,130 monocrystalline photovoltaic panels.

On the other side, the Esperanza solar plant has 26.24 MW of capacity and will generate 39,46 GWh per year of green energy, avoiding the emission of more than 23,600 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. It covers an area of ​​40 hectares, where 64,440 monocrystalline photovoltaic panels have been installed.

The energy supply agreements related to these plants demonstrate the growing interest of the private sector in incorporating renewable energy into their operations.
