Enel Américas won an award in the “Cross-Border M&A Deal of the Year” category by LatinFinance magazine

·         The distinction was granted for the acquisition of Eletropaulo.

·         According to the publication, the currently named Enel Distribuição São Paulo consolidated Enel Américas as a leader in the electricity distribution market in the region.

 

Santiago, February 14th , 2019 –  At a ceremony held in New York on January 31, the prestigious LatinFinance magazine distinguished Enel Américas for the acquisition of Eletropaulo in the "Cross-Border M&A Deal of the Year" category. (Cross-border mergers and acquisitions of the year). According to the publication, the acquisition of the currently named, Enel Distribuição São Paulo, transformed Enel Américas into the market leader in energy distribution in Brazil.

The acquisition of Enel Distribuição São Paulo was one of the most important transactions that we carried out during 2018. This was developed in line with our growth strategy in the region, and positioned Enel Américas as the leading multinational in the electricity distribution market in the region," said Maurizio Bezzeccheri, Enel Américas’ CEO .

The acquisition of Enel Distribuição São Paulo is part of our growth plan and also opens a window to boost Enel X’s business in the region. The company is showing solid results with an Ebitda that we expect to increase to 0.8 billion dollars during the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan," said Aurelio Bustilho, Enel Americas’ Administration, Finance, and Control Manager.

LatinFinance emphasizes that the winner was defined after a competitive process that consisted of several steps and complexities, where Enel Americas stood out as the largest individual energy distribution company in Brazil, with the highest consumption per customer and operations in metropolitan areas.

 

Enel Distribuição São Paulo

After a competitive tender held in June 2018, the subsidiary of Enel Américas, Enel Brasil Investimentos Sudeste received confirmation of the successful completion of its voluntary offer for the purchase of all the capital stock of Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S.A.

With the acquisition of Eletropaulo, now called, Enel Distribuição São Paulo, Enel Américas became the largest distribution operator in Brazil, with a total of 17 million customers and a market share of more than 20% of the distribution business.
