- Enel Américas was the protagonist of the Closing Bell in one of the most important securities market in the world.
- The company is the largest private utility in Latin America, with 24.5 million customers and present in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Peru.
Santiago, July 31st, 2019 – This Wednesday afternoon, Enel Américas closed the stock exchange activity in Wall Street with the traditional “Closing Bell”, celebrating 25 years being listed in the New York Stock Exchange. Enel Chile also participated in the ceremony, formerly part of Enersis S.A., the company originally listed in the NYSE.
October 20th, 1993 left its mark in the Chilean financial market: for the first time, a company in the energy field listed in the IPSA entered the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the most important financial center in the world. Along with this step, Enersis S.A. was becoming a reference point among Chilean companies, when seeking foreign capital beyond the frontiers of its original country.
Maurizio Bezzeccheri, Enel Director for Latin America, and Enel Américas general manager highlighted the importance of being present at the Closing Bell commemorating 25 years listed in the most important stock exchange of the world: “To be here is a reason to be proud of. Enel Américas has known how to position itself and how to become an internationally relevant actor, growing hand in hand with sustainability. A company whose achievements are the foundations of that to come: the consolidation of a growth strategy being a protagonist of the energy transition, building the sustainable future of the region. Also, today we celebrate the success of the first phase of the capital increase that closed last Friday, July 26th with a 97.3%, which is to enable us to continue being the leading energy company in the region”, he indicated.
With 24.5 million customers and present in the main megacities of the region, as of today Enel Américas is the largest private utility in Latin America, which allows it the possibility of growing, offering new services other than the electric power generation and distribution. The presence in the region renders the possibility for expanding the market towards electro mobility, public lighting, providing services of a financial nature or E- Home, all through the Enel X line of business.
Today’s milestone is the continuation of the story that Enersis began a quarter of a century ago, but that took on a new name and a new partnership structure in 2016: Enel Américas S.A, that enabled the separation of its businesses in Chile with respect to the rest of Latin America, giving birth to a new company: Enel Chile.
Today Enel Américas projects itself beyond its achievements, with an expansion plan in the region supported by the successful capital increase of more than 3 billion dollars, the largest in Chile’s history paid for in cash.
